We are excited to announce two of our workshop hosts for 2017…
That’s right! Save the date. Once again we will be at the Banner Mountain Lodge, although now in the Spring. April 27th (Thursday) to April 30th (Sunday).
Our format will be similar to that of previous years.
Workshop hosts yet to be announced….!
After five years of annual Rural Writers Retreats in Smithers, we’ve decided to let 2015 be a fallow year. We will not be organizing a retreat this year.
Don’t hesitate to set aside a long weekend in late September for your own personal retreat! And, of course, if any of you is feeling moved to organize your own event, go for it! We could advertise it to our whole list.
We’ll miss you! Thanks so much, and stay tuned for 2016…
– RWR Organizing Committee (Amanda, Kim, Sheila, Melissa, Morgan…)
Things are coming together for out 2014 retreat. Our writer-hosts will be Donna Kane, David Leach and Martin Crosbie. For more about each of them, see our Retreat Details page.

As before, our venue will be the great Banner Mountain Lodge!

Thanks everyone who has registered. We are maintaining a wait list, for those of you who would still like to register. See the top of the Retreat Details page.
We have not yet reached the early-bird registration deadline, and already, incredibly, we have only 5 beds left at the Banner Mountain Lodge for September’s Rural Writers Retreat in Smithers. Wow!
Registration has begun for the 2013 Rural Writers in Residence from September 26 -29 and the organizing committee is pleased to already have its first two registrants!
Considering the success of last year’s event, we expect this year’s to fill up quickly, so be sure to register before the July 1st early registration deadline. Registration fee includes all meals, workshops and events. Prices as follows (please note discounted rates for Federation of BC Writers members):
Early registration (ending July 1): $325
Full registration (after July 1): $375
Federation of BC Writers members’ rate: $275 early registration, $350 full registration
This year again the Banner Mountain Lodge will be our venue! Go to our Registration page to get started!
